Congratulations to Jim Burdett and Vanrish McLean. Fantastic performances at the British Duathlon championship at the Bedford Autodrome on 25 March (results).
Jim won the national age-group championship in the M50-54 age group. This is the second time he has won a national championship in the last five years, having been British middle distance champion in 2014. A full list of SLH's British champions can be found on our Honours Board here.
Meanwhile Van competed in the elite race and finished 20th out of 40 finishers. He said to us that racing with elites was a whole other level, but as soon as he finished the opening 5km in 15:21 it was clear to us he was in the right company.
In running races on the same day, Anne-Marie Smith and Gareth Parr secured wins for SLH in the Mad March Hare dash, organised by Tri Project for Meningitis Research. And in the Rotary Bunny 5km race, Alix Ramsier won the adult 5km race and Ben Whyatt the junior 1km race. As I write this on Sunday evening I hear that the Easter eggs they gave as prizes are almost gone already!
Well deserved in all cases. Well done everybody.
Ben
If you weren't at the coaching evening on Wednesday night, you will have missed the news that Gary has sourced four turbo trainers for the club, which will be stored at the clubhouse. Coming soon. Watch this space for more news.

Those of you who have been around the tri club for a few years will recall Carmen Poel who coached our swimming sessions a few years ago and raced for us lots of times as well as cycling from London to Paris. She's rejoined the club now and welcome back... and congratulations! Carmen has qualified for the standard distance age-group triathlon World Championships, to be held in September in Gold Coast, Australia. She will be racing for her native Spain. Carmen will be SLH's 31st age group qualifier - we have now had 29 athletes race for Great Britain, one for Ireland and one for Spain.
Congratulations Carmen and good luck for Australia!
