CYCLING 9 JULY
Drag yourself away from the pub run and the corporate races, it's time for one of the classic TT sessions, the Kenley speed reps.
WHERE: Kenley Aerodrome
WHEN: 7pm start and meet at the memorial
WHO: Ross to lead
HOW MUCH: £2
WHAT: 15 mins easy spin, 30 min hard effort, 15 min warm down. Course set up so that everyone can go at their own speed.
Bring fluids as the heat and wind makes it very draining.
NO OWS 7 JULY
There won't be any open water swimming at Mercers Country Park on Tuesday 7 July but this Sunday's session is on as normal. Tuesday might be a night for the track session then! Thanks to Tri Surrey for the early warning.
WOLDINGHAM 15 JULY
Advance warning: there will be no Caterham swim session on Wednesday 15 July because we will be taking part in the Woldingham aquathlon.
Please come to Woldingham and do the race! It's a terrific event, organised by SLHers Matt and Beckie Chapman and Ben and Lee Pearce, and it's our club aquathlon championships which attracts more club members than any other multisport race. Entries open for the rest of this week.
The seven-strong SLH team that travelled to Cologne for the ETU European aquathlon championships has had a great weekend. Everyone did themselves proud out on the course and Natalie and Ben came away with bronze medals. Reports will no doubt follow when the effects of the post-race beers have worn off along with some photos.
That wasn't the end of the medalling though, far from it. At the National Middle Distance championships in Cambridgeshire, Ruth Hutton and Jim Burdett collected a gold and bronze respectively. This race attracted a very strong field and the medals were hard won - high quality performances from Ruth and Jim as always. Steve Rigby got a massive PB to boot.
GO TRI KINGSWOOD 1
Thank you very much to everyone that came to compete and marshal at the first GO TRI aquathlon organised by SLH and Fitness Express at L&G in Kingswood on Wednesday evening. The event was a success - congratulations to everyone that finished, especially those that were taking part in multisport for the first time (that includes the winner, Emma Craig!).
The event was the brainchild of Steve Clancey and wouldn't have happened without him - thanks Steve and thanks also to our other marshals (Steve R, Ben, Chris McH, Donna, Tanya, Victoria, Steve V, Nick, Tansie and Encsi - thanks Sandhya for providing the list of names!)
Want to try? There are three more similar races to come this summer, next one on Wednesday 29 July, 5pm in Kingswood. Entry details will be on-line soon.
