TOPIC: Surrey League - Ranelagh Richmond 10k 24 June 2012

Surrey League - Ranelagh Richmond 10k 24 June 2012 11 months, 1 week ago #1290

After a fantastic team result over at Dorking last weekend. Not only did we WIN the team prize, but SLH turned out in healthy numbers which added to the overall team performance, it would great to replicate our wining performance again at the next Surrey Road League fixture; Ranelagh Richmond 10k being held on 24th June 2012.

As this is a shorter distance, only 10k and is a flat, fast course, so plently of PB's possible, it could be a perfect opportunity for our runners and triathletes to sharpen there running performances.

Here's the link for the entry: (can't seem to post it so you'll need search for Ranelagh Richmond 10k entries.)

Another good turnout from SLH this morning with 20 starters and 19 finishers at the Surrey 10k road championships over at Ham.

Some good performances, notably Bill running a PB for the second week in a row and finally breaking the 40 minute barrier. Ian Kitching again won the V60 prize and the County Championship medal. Glen and I had a great tussle on the course but had to settle for 2nd and 3rd Vet 50s this time with the win going to a very young looking Norwegian from Belgrave. Our vets strength is well illustrated if you order the results on age grading; we were comfortably first team home although the overall winner was the same. Geoff Newton would have been 3rd.

General consensus at the finish was that the conditions weren't ideal with quite a strong breeze blowing and most people running slower times than at Sutton despite the course being theoretically quicker.

My disappointment at just losing out to Glen was compounded when I got in the refreshment queue and saw two large slabs of cake on a plate and only two people in front of me - they both proceded to buy them and that was it. Not my day so far so hope it gets better tonight.

Thanks to Richard for his support on the course and looking forward to seeing the banana photograph.
