Shanice Harrison had a good weekend at the BUCS champs at Bedford. After posting 11.75 in the 100m heats she won silver in 11.94. In the 200m she finished 3rd in 24.39. Earlier this year Shanice, pictured with her medal, won gold in the BUCS 200m indoor champs.

Paul Mitchell carries on where he left off last season - note his style at the Mile End meeting. In the first Mens Southern League fixture. Report from Paul Mitchell: SLH's men's team got off to a solid start in the new track and field season at Mile End. Placed in Division 1 (Central) in the newly formatted Southern Men's League, we were up against the five teams we'll be meeting throughout the season.
Tom Bullen once again spearheaded our throws, supported by David Mason in the javelin, and a great debut from Nathan Fergus in the shot, discus and hammer, for a team total of 41 points.. Unfortunately we had no vaulters, but strong performances from Darren Brown and Stephen Babalola (who won A string triple, and B string long and high jumps) gave us 43 points in the jumps. Stephen just missed out breaking the 13m barrier in the triple jump by a centimetre.
At last we have beaten Orion in a Mob Match! In a very close race in extremely muddy conditions and with 25 to score we triumphed by 615 to 663 points. So our season of Mob Matches has ended with 2 wins, 1 loss and 1 void race, not a bad start for Chairman Rigby in his role as Mob Match Motivator. Next season we must aim for a clean sweep but meanwhile thanks to all club members who have turned out for the Mob Matches this season.
The Vets Handicap was won by Martin Long. Full results are now posted in Cross Country and photos are in the Gallery
