April 12th, 2008: Sportshall National Finals

With 3 SLH athletes looking forward to competing at this fantastic event, hopes were suddenly dashed. The finals were reduced to a “Field Events only” competition as several accidents forced organisers to halt all the running events.

January 19th, 2008: U11s Fun in Athletics Competition

On Saturday 19th Jan, SLH sent 2 teams, 14 boys and 14 girls, to the Westcroft Leisure Centre, Carshalton to compete in the annual London Area “Fun in Athletics” team challenge. This is the first chance for many of our youngest athletes to compete. It was a nervous but exciting day for all. (more…)

January 13th, 2008: Sportshall (3)

SLH Young Athletes were in Guildford for this the 3rd and final Sporthall round. The keen and able Young Athletes who came along produced some excellent performances, and once again showed their spirit, talent and expertise to the crowd. The boys did excellently to finish 3rd. Unfortunately a severely depleted girls team finished lower than before, but we were a very young team, and have much to look forward to next year.

December 2nd, 2007: Young Athletes - Sportshall (2)

A good turn out once again. SLH came armed with 36 keen and able Young Athletes to take on the best that the Surrey clubs could offer. We looked great, as the new shirts were all in, and the results were slightly better on the whole, than in the first round. All seemed to enjoy themselves, with some very good individual achievements amongst them.

November 3rd, 2007: Young Athletes - Sportshall

An afternoon of indoor athletics was enjoyed by many of SLH’s U13 and U15 athletes. Results were good, although not quite up to our huge success of last season. This was probably due to a large number of absentees due to half-term activities. There were however a lot of debut performances which bode well for the other upcoming events. As usual the atmosphere was fantastic, and the athletes all seemed to really enjoy it. With 6 to a team, it means we had 36 athletes there !
