March 19th, 2008: Press Release : Inter Counties and Half Marathons

Four members of South London Harriers represented Surrey in the weekend’s Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships and World Trials held at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.

Michelle Jenkins and Pippa Major ran in the senior women’s event in which Surrey finished ninth team, Michelle finishing in 139th place and Pippa 154th.

Matt Grant helped the Under 17 men to their 5th place finish with his 36th place and Loulou Rowlands ran superbly to finish 9th in her event and to help the Under 17 women take third place. (more…)

February 14th, 2008: Press Release: Surrey League Cross Country

The final match of the Surrey Cross Country League Division One was held at a gloriously sunny Richmond Park last Saturday. The senior men were in some danger of relegation to Division Two if they didn’t pull out all the stops in this match and to this end a large and impressive team gathered with performances to match, giving them a fourth place finish on the day and sixth place in the overall league placings, well clear of the relegation zone. Congratulations to 15 year-old Frederica Foster, who completed a double of titles, winning both the South of England U17 Girls 300m and the Kent U17 Girls 400m.

South London Harriers’ senior ladies had yet another good outing last Saturday in the South of England Cross Country Championships held at an exceptionally muddy Parliament Hill Fields. Following on from their recent wins in the County Cross Country Championships and their last Surrey League match, it was fitting they should be the first Surrey Team to finish in this competition. South London Harriers were out in force at their home course at Coulsdon for last Saturday’s annual Mob Match where their superior numbers brought a relatively easy victory over a depleted side from the normally powerful Thames Hare and Hounds. (more…)

South London Harriers’ women built on last week’s win in the County Championships with another superb win at Reigate Priory in their Division One match of the Surrey Cross Country League. Run on one of the most beautiful sunny days, conditions would have been perfect for the 3.65m course but for the heavy mud underfoot (partly due to the continued renovation of the park). (more…)
