South London Harriers Clubhouse

For all of our running and junior turbo sessions, changing facilities etc are based at the SLH Clubhouse, 194a Brighton Road, Coulsdon CR5 2NF.

Brighton Road is the old A23, and one of the main streets through Coulsdon. The clubhouse is in the town centre, just south of the fork in the road, on the road down to Hooley and the M23.  It is on the west side (left hand side heading towards Purley), of that road, set back from the road, adjacent to the Comrades Club.

Nearest stations: Coulsdon Town or Coulsdon South (both 0.25 miles).

Buses: London route 60 to the Coulsdon Library stop, right outside the clubhouse, and London route 166 to the Chipstead Valley Road stop, 200m from the clubhouse.

Track Coulsdon

Our floodlit eight-lane running track, opened in 2013, is located at Woodcote High School, Meadow Hill, Coulsdon CR8 3HL.  (Or just enter 'Track Coulsdon' into Google Maps!)

Access to the track is via the main school entrance on Meadow Hill, which is just off Smitham Bottom Lane.

Nearest stations: Coulsdon Town (1.25 miles), Reedham (1.5 miles).

Buses: London routes 434 and 463 pass near the track, while routes 60, 166, 405 and 466 pass about a mile away on the A23.

Caterham School Sports Centre

Our pool swim and Swimgym sessions all take place at Caterham School Sports Centre, Harestone Valley Road, Caterham CR3 6YA.

The school pool is located about three-quarters of a mile down Harestone Valley Road from Caterham town centre, directly opposite the main Caterham School building, ie the school building is on the left hand side as you travel away from Caterham and the pool is on the right hand side.  (The map above points to the school building but the pool is in the green space to the left of it there).  A car park is available for the pool and is accessed via Harestone Lane.

Nearest station: Caterham (1 mile).

Buses: London route 407 to Caterham town centre (1 mile from pool).  Several other routes travel to Caterham from the south.

Mercers Country Park (Merstham)

Open water swimming sessions with Tri Surrey on Sunday mornings take place at Mercers Country Park, Nutfield Marsh Road, Merstham RH1 4EU.

Mercers Country Park is about one and a half miles south east of Merstham village centre, itself a short distance north of Redhill.  From the A23 in the centre of Merstham, take School Hill (signposted for Nutfield and Godstone), then go straight over the mini roundabout at the width restriction and the park is a quarter of a mile away on the left.  It is marked with brown signs with a picture of a dinghy.

Nearest station: Merstham (1.5 miles, directions as above but it's not the best walk, probably best arrange a lift share).

Buses: Metrobus route 435 from Redhill and Reigate stops just outside the park, and London route 405 from West Croydon travels through Merstham on the A23, about a mile and a half away from the park.

Diver's Cove (Godstone)

Many of our weekend open water swims are held at Diver's Cove Scuba Diving Centre, North Park Lane, Godstone, Surrey RH9 8ND.

Diver's Cove is located just north of Godstone village, half a mile from junction 6 of the M25 (which is the junction with the A22 from Caterham, Whyteleafe and Purley).  From the motorway, take the B2235 towards Godstone and follow directions to the East Lake Nature Reservoir.

Nearest station: Godstone (3.5 miles, not recommended for Diver's Cove).

Buses: Metrobus routes 400 and 509 from Caterham stop by the Shell garage on the B2235 about 0.3 miles from Diver's Cove.

Kenley Aerodrome

Our cycle skills courses are held at Kenley Aerodrome, Hayes Lane, Whyteleafe, Surrey CR3 5FX.

The Aerodrome offers a safe and traffic-free environment for those improving their cycle handling and skills such as riding in groups.

Nearest station: Whyteleafe South (1,1 miles from the southern edge of the aerodrome).

Buses: London bus route 407 from Sutton to Caterham stops outside Whyteleafe South station.

Farthing Downs

Our brick sessions can be accessed from the SLH clubhouse (as above) but the sessions themselves start at 7pm at the tea rooms on the top of the hill at the Downs (on Ditches Lane).  Our cross country races start on the Downs as well (details here).

Unless you know the area well, it's probably best to meet at the clubhouse the first time you train or race on the Downs.

There is a car park at Farthing Downs as shown below (postcode is CR5 1DA).
