A number of SLH’s younger runners took part in last week’s Mini-Marathon held in conjunction with the full London Marathon.
Tom Holden had a terrific run to finish 2nd in the 11-12 yr age group team running for Sutton, finishing in 16mins 57secs. Also in the 11-12’s but representing Croydon, Laurence Rook finished 19th in 18.47.  Others in this age group were: James Male, 41st in 19.27, Bethany Strong, 109th in 23.44, Georgia Farrell, 116th in 23.54 and Emma Doyle, 121st in 23.58.

In the 13-14’s race, Sophie Foreman excelled with a 16th placing in 19.57 and Maria Kavanagh also had a very good run for 38th in 20.43 with Francesca Parris not far behind in 43rd in 20.58.

In the 15-17’s race Amy Mitchell was 44th in 20.45 and Hannah Field 143rd in 24.15.

Tom Hart was 14th in the 15-17’s age group in his race with a brilliant 16.09. Adam Gye was 65th in 17.18. Martin Parry, running for Bromley was 26th in 16.28. Gregory Campbell was 141st in the Croydon Team in 18.35 with David Sidwell 151st in 18.56 and James McDonald 224th in 22.02.

In Sunday’s local Sutton 10km race, South London Harriers super vet Jason Simpson was 2nd. This over 40 competitor finishing in 32 mins 22secs. Mark Burtwell was 18th in 36.4, Alex Halpin was 21st in 36.51 and Paul Mitchell was 52nd in 39.34, giving SLH third team placing.

Robin Holmes finished in 40.51 (73rd), John Foss timed 41.39 (90th), Bill Arnold’s 42.28 gave him 106th place and Matt Saunders timed 43.04 for 118th.

Viv Mitchell was 138th overall in 44.22 and Trudy Kuhn 262th in 51.33.
