Posted by Brian and Viv at 8:19 pmSouth London Harriers entry at the South of England Cross Country Championships was greatly depleted by injury and illness but those that made it to the start found plenty of mud and standing water to contend with.
The senior women’s scoring team of Gemma Marrs (58th in 37.10), Carol Evans (70th in 37.42), Michelle Jenkins (76th in 38.01) and Pam Iannella (200th in 44.16) achieved 17th place of the 38 teams taking part.
There were only three SLH competitors in the senior men’s 15km event finishing as follows David Ogden (242nd in 1.05.27), Colin Young (476th in 1.16.04) and Peter Emery (535rd in 1.18.52). There were 672 finishers.
The club’s Under 13 Girls’ team of Sophie Foreman (22nd in 13.37), Alex Roberts (151st in 16.02), Tessa Billup (162nd in 16.15) and Amy Billup (194th in 17.06) finished in 15th team place.
Ruth Myburgh finished 153rd in 18.25 and Francesca Parris was 184th in 19.24 of the 220 runners taking part in the Under 15s race.
The Under 17 Boys’ race was also contested by two SLH runners: Jack Bourne (78th in 23.40) and Martin Parry (152nd in 25.48). There were 180 finishers.
Ben Foreman was SLH’s only runner in the Under 13 Boys’ event, finishing 107th (of 244 competitors) in 13.43.
