December 27th, 2008: Press Release : Boxing Day Handicap
Posted by Brian and Viv at 10:31 pmSouth London Harriers’ traditional remedy for Christmas over indulgence is their Boxing Day Handicap Race run over a 2 mile course in Coulsdon’s Happy Valley.
This year’s event was run by 60 club members plus friends and relatives who wanted to blow away the festive cobwebs. The race has a graded start so that the slower runners start ahead of the faster and in theory all runners could cross the finish line together.
However, first to cross the finish line for the Iszatt Cup was Helen Wilson in a time of 20.03 (actual 13.53), followed by Peter Walker in 20.32 (actual 18.22) and Toby McDaniel in 20.58 (actual 16.18).
The three fastest laps of the day were Mike McManus’s 11.24, Daniel Selman’s 12.04 and Mark Burtwell’s 12.22.
