November 17th, 2008: SLH women in winning streak again!
Posted by Runningclogs at 11:52 pmAfter our successful cross country season last year this one is proving succesful once again and that we are the top team in Surrey. This has been achieved by ALL women participating in the races and with our ability of all working as a team. This working together was most effective in our first Surrey League match where due to our large numbers our opponents found themselves with many more points scored than they had thought possible! SLH 68 nearest rivals 145. With fewer of our runners out in the second match although we consolidated our position we could not improve. So could all please come and run in the third match at home over Farthing Downs on 10 january to ensure our final victory in match 4!
We did well in the Surrey relays winning the SW race and Southern relays silver in the Vets race. We had a shower of medals in the Surrey Vets champs where Carol won the race.
We have again won two shields for a third time in a row! One for the Reigate Priory relays where there was fierce competition and where we also had fastest lap! And the other one last saturday in the South of Thames 5m champs which we did in style again even though the competition was not as fierce as in Reigate – but still more substantial then last
year – we were first home with Michelle Jenkins winning a beautiful cup – our teams were 1st ,3rd and 5th!
We are aiming to have just as many successful results in the second half of the season – we should with such an excellent and dedicated group of women!
