November 10th, 2008: Press Release: Surrey League Match Two
Posted by Brian and Viv at 8:00 amIn this weekend’s Surrey Cross Country League Division One matches, SLH women finished second and the men fifth.
The women’s match at Lightwater was a very close contest with Michelle Jenkins leading the SLH pack with her third place finish in 24.21. Carol Evans was 16th with 24.56, Ruth Hutton 22nd in 25.55, Nicky Morgan 30th in 26.25 and Pippa Major 35th in 26.52. This scoring ‘A’ team was backed by Viv Mitchell 28.01, Adele Farrell 28.16, Sue McDonald 28.48, Trudy Khun 29.10, Steph Ware 29.20, Jane Luxton 31.10, Pam Iannella 31.18, Penny Jarrett 33.34, Emma Harkins 34.35, Sandra Hughes 34.40 and Nina Pinkerton 37.26. SLH retain their overall first position in the league after two matches.
In the men’s match on a very rain soaked Wimbledon Common, SLH’s 10 scorers were as follows: Tom Jenkins, 18th in 38.20, Under 20 runner Matt Grant 31st in 29.02, David Baker 47th in 30.18, David Sinclair 50th in 30.33, Lee Morgan 51st in 30.34, Matt Chapman 56th in 30.48, Andy Davis 70th in 31.23, Andy Collins 71st in 31.24, Dan Gillett 73rd in 31.36 and Under 20 Joseph Hook, 74th in 31.37.
Jim Burdett timed 31.39, Mark Burtwell 32.24, Antonio Martins 33.22, Mike Airey 33.35 and Colin Young 26.38.
This gives the SLH men 5th position in the league overall in a very close contest.
