August 12th, 2008: Young Athletes Match 4 (20th July)
Posted by Ian Field at 4:33 pmWell done to all the Young Athletes who have contributed points this season. SLH have finished 2nd in our Div2 London, and will be promoted to Div1 for next season.
As for the match, it was a spirited performance, which ended with SLH placed 2nd, but this time very close behind the home club, Kingston. We can take heart from the fact that the only time Kingston were away from their home track we beat them ! The times on the day were affected by a persistently strong wind, but performances were still very good.
The overall result on the day was Kingston and Poly 563pts, SLH 524pts, Hercules Wimbledon 323pts, with 3 others teams further back.

So, the end of the league season has come. A most enjoyable experience hopefully for all the athletes, as it was for the coaches. Thanks to the parents for getting their athletes there for the matches, and especially to those who have volunteered during the season the help out with officiating. A special mention to Jackie West and Julia Thompson who have qualified as officials, and to Tom Richards and Jill Lula for their hours of assistance and encouragement.
Looking forward to next season already……………..things are definitely on the way up….keep up the training, it’s paying off !!
