Posted by Brian and Viv at 6:33 amSouth London Harriers’ International, Natalie Harvey, ran 33mins 12secs to finish 8th in Cardiff’s Great Wales 10km run on Sunday, this was some 48 seconds faster than her previous week’s run in the Great Capital 10km where she had finished 2nd. The opposition on this occasion matched the heat of the weather, with Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo breaking the course record in 31.36.
Ian Kitching, South London’s leading over 50 veteran, won the Gatton 10km over a tough course last Wednesday evening in 39.50. Barry Attwell (o/50) was 9th in 42.29, Paul Mitchell (o/40) was 10th in 42.30 and Francis Upcott (o/50) was 21st in 44.51.
Chris Phelan (o/40) finished 9th in 24.15 in Friday evening’s Wedding Day 7k held in Bushy Park with Carol Evans (o/40) third woman finisher (56th overall) in 28.23.
In last week’s Young Athlete’s League track and field match at Kingston, SLH finished a very close second, ensuring promotion to Division One next season and SLH women had another great win at Watford, also ensuring a Premier Division promotion for next year!
