July 16th, 2008: Southern Men’s League 4 - 12th July
Posted by Paul at 9:08 pmHaving had an easy run of 3 matches, the draw was now catching up with us. We faced Blackheath at home, the league leaders, St.Mary’s Richmond, and seventh place Eastbourne. But, hurdling and vaulting aside, we had a competitive squad, who recorded at least three PBs (the 200m sprinters, Billy and Ben, and Michael McManus in the 1500m). The jumpers all came first or second, and the throwers did the same for the javelin and shot. Andy Tindall held up well as our solo hurdles man, and as a contrast to last match we had a spare man in the 5,000m, Andy Evans running a good non-scoring time.
Overall, third place guarantees a top-half of the table finish, so we will be missing out on the usual nail-biting relegation battle in our final match.
