Many young athletes were in competition in the Surrey and Kent Championships this weekend, with plenty of medals on show. 

Surrey :

U13 Girls - Maria Kavanagh placed 9th in the 1500m final in 5.28.25 PB, and 6th in the 800m  in 2.43.79. She ran a PB in the heats of 2:39. Zoe Collins was 5th in her 200m heat in 31.98.

U15 Girls - Jahisha Thomas ran superbly to win GOLD in the 75m hurdles in 11.71 (PB). She the went on to win GOLD again in the Long Jump with 4.88m (PB). Jahisha was also 5th in the 100m (13.37). Shanice Harrison took a great SILVER in the 200m in 27.13, having won her heat in 27.22 and then another SILVER in the 100m final in 13.22. Ruth Myburgh was 3rd in her heat of the 800m, just missing the final with a PB (2:37.59). Iyani Obi-Adewole was 6th in the Javelin with 9.90m. Chioma Obi-Adewole won a BRONZE in the Shot with 7.91m and Iyani threw 7.23 for 6th. Chioma also placed 6th in the Discus with 19.73m.

U17 - Loulou Rowlands won BRONZE in the 800m in 2.17.64. Harriet Field placed 6th in the 800m final.

U13 Boys - Ben Foreman was 6th in the 800 final in 2.35.37, having run a PB in the heats, 2.32.02. Ben then went on to run the 1500m in 5.18.14 for 10th place. Adesemi Obi-Adewole won BRONZE in the shot (7.10m) and then GOLD in the Discus (18.36m).

U15 Boys - Richard Morris ran well in the 400m heats, but was struck by an asthma attack on the final bend and he could not finish. Dad sprinted well to bring his pump round from the finish line to where he lay. We all hope he has recovered fully.   

U17 Boys - Ben McDaniel was 6th in the 800m final in 2.08.70. Jack Bourne was 6th in his his 800m heat (2:13.81). Jack was also 6th in the 1500m final (4:30.60). Afam Obi-Adewole was 6th in his 100m heat in 11.70. Afam then won BRONZE in the Long Jump with a terrific leap (5.74m), and SILVER in the Shot (10.21m). Thomas Bullen won a close-up SILVER in the Discus (31.29m).

U20 Men - Chris Hall was 6th in his 400m heat (64.51). Billy Porter 7th in the 100m final (11.62).  SLH  had three finalists in the 1500m with Daniel Sellman winning BRONZE (4.14.02), Michael McManus was 4th (4.16.07) and Paul Dyke 9th (4.35.45). Likewise in the 800m, Matthew Grant won BRONZE (2.00.62), Alex Rice was 6th (2.03.27) and Paul Dyke 9th (2:12.62). Michael McManus was also 6th in the 3000m (9:25.88). Oliver Serviable was 4th in the Long Jump (5.13m).   

Kent :

U17 Girls - Frederica Foster won GOLD in the 300m with a Championship Best Performance of 40.85secs. She then got SILVER in the 200m (25.89).
