News from South London Harriers
April 28th, 2008: Boston Marathon
Posted by Brian and Viv at 9:39 pmThe Boston Marathon results from last weekend included five finishers from South London Harriers, all posting very impressive times.
Chris Phelan (over 45 veteran) was the first to crest “Heartbreak Hill” at 21 miles and completed the race in 2hrs 43mins, making him the second finisher from the UK.
A very impressive run from Ian Kitching, an over 50 veteran, with a time of 2hrs 50mins gave him the position of 8th UK finisher. Paul Mitchell, not content with a London Marathon time of 2hrs 44 the previous week, then went on to complete Boston in 2hrs 54mins (13th UK finisher) and David Freeman’s time of 2hrs 54mins made him 12th UK runner to finish, just behind the famous Sonia O’Sullivan. Simon Rosser was not far behind in 3hrs 6mins (26th UK runner).
Colin Moyer ran the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon this weekend and recorded a very good 3hrs 23mins.
Late result from the London Marathon: Eric Thomas (running for Metropolitan Police), 3hrs 22mins.
Youngsters from SLH who didn’t get a mention in the previous London mini-marathon report were: Ben Foreman, running for Surrey - 70th in the boys 11/12yrs in 20.11
Francesca Parris, running for Croydon - 89th in the girls 13/14 in 22.34
Hannah Field, running for Croydon - 134th in the girls 15/17 in 23.36
Zoe Collins, running for Sutton - 141st in the girls 13/14 in 24.54
