April 1st, 2008: Paddock Wood Half Marathon
Posted by Brian and Viv at 12:20 pmSunday’s Paddock Wood Half Marathon gave 13 of South London Harriers’ marathon hopefuls an opportunity to hone their skills prior to the big event with some very encouraging results.
Over 50 veteran, Ian Kitching was first to finish for the club in 11th place in an amazing time of 1hr 15mins 31 secs and taking the 1st veteran’s prize, followed closely by over 40 veteran Chris Phelan, 12th in 1hr 15mins 38 secs. Francis Staunton was 22nd in 1hr 18mins 19secs and another over 40 veteran, Paul Mitchell timed 1hr 20mins 46secs. Next home for SLH was Ruth Hutton, who returning from a hamstring injury exceeded her expectations with 1hr 28mins 27secs, 7 woman finisher overall and 4th veteran. Joe Bertorelli was 159th in 1hr 29mins 14secs, Peter Emery was 168th in 1hr 29mins 33secs and Ken Lee was 206th in 1hr 32mins 02secs, taking 5th over 60 veteran spot. Philip Ide was 242nd in 1hr 33mins 20 secs and Neil Maury timed 1hr 34mins 27 secs for 272nd. Pam Ianella was 857th finisher in 1hr 51mins 7secs and Marketa Martins just broke the 2 hour barrier to finish in 1hr 59 mins and 54 secs to finish 1,129th of the 1600 plus to complete the race.
