March 19th, 2008: Press Release : Inter Counties and Half Marathons
Posted by Brian and Viv at 6:52 amFour members of South London Harriers represented Surrey in the weekend’s Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships and World Trials held at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.
Michelle Jenkins and Pippa Major ran in the senior women’s event in which Surrey finished ninth team, Michelle finishing in 139th place and Pippa 154th.
Matt Grant helped the Under 17 men to their 5th place finish with his 36th place and Loulou Rowlands ran superbly to finish 9th in her event and to help the Under 17 women take third place.
In the Fleet Half Marathon on Sunday, Ian Kitching (vet 55) was 34th finisher in 1.18.20, David Ogden (v45) was close behind in 36th place in 1.18.40, Dan Gillett timed 1.20.30 for 51st and Simon Carter of SLH’s Triathlon Club did 1.35.34, finishing 451st of the 2,000 runners.
At Hastings, in another pre-marathon half, Andy Collins was 16th in 1.16.03, Chris Phelan was 19th in 1.16.37, Paul Mitchell was 68th in 1.22.57, Nick Lee was 96th in 1.24.57 and Colin Moyer was 127th in 1.26.37. Beckie Woodland was the first home for the SLH ladies in 192nd place in 1.29.24, Ken Lee was 346th in 1.33.46, Jenny Burdett timed 1.51.05 for 1318th place and Joanne Farrar did 2.08.38 to finish in 2,465th place of the almost 4,000 who took part.
