December 8th, 2007: Ranelagh Harriers Mob Match report

Read Colin Young’s report on the mob match below:

Saturday the 8th December - while the majority of the country was thinking about Ricky Hatton taking on Floyd Mayweather South London Harriers combated their own “weather” at Farthing Downs!

Yesterday the second mob match of the season took place in some “tricky” conditions. However despite the wind and rain a gallant team of runners from SLH were on hand to battle against Ranelagh. The heavy rain made conditions under foot trickier than they had been at the Pirie a week earlier; neat footwork was needed in many areas of the course in order to avoid hitting the deck!

After the disappointment of losing at Orion it was fantastic for the club to pick up their first Mob Match victory of the season. A big thank you to all our runners from first to last home. Turn outs like this make all the difference in these events and this was reflected in the overall result.

And lastly…. a big thank you to all those marshalling - on days like yesterday it really is a harder job than running!
