October 11th, 2007: Surrey Young Athletes CC Relays
Posted by Ian Field at 12:35 pmFirst medals of the season were picked up by 3 teams last weekend at the Surrey Young Athletes Cross Country Relay Championships at Stoke Park, Guildford on Sat 6th October.
There was a very good turnout for this curtain-raiser to the Cross Country season for Young Athletes. We had 4 U13 girls teams and 4 U13 boys teams !! There were also 2 U15 boys and 2 U17 boys teams, as well as an U15 girls team.
The U13 girls performed excellently, and won the Silver medal, with a team comprisring Sophie Foreman, Ruth Myburgh and Maria Kavanagh.
The U17 boys team also got a Silver medal through Daniel Sellman, Dominic Steiert and Matt Grant. The B team got the Bronze medal through debutante Alex Rice, Jack Bourne and Ben McDaniel. Matt ran the 3rd fastest time of the day, with Daniel running the 5th fastest.
Well done all, especially the medallists and all the first-time runners. A good start to the season.
