September 8th, 2007: Surrey Road Relays Mens’ Results

What a brilliant start to the season!
SLH vests out in force and the results to match. I’ll focus on the Men so
as not to steal Pam and Jake’s thunder.
The Senior Mens ‘A’ team came second running Belgrave very close. All the
team ran superbly and Jim Burdett stepped up from the ‘B’ team at 10
minutes notice and stormed round.
Leg 1 - Tom Jenkins 14.58
Leg 2 - Ray Marriott 15.22
Leg 3 - Tim Chidgey 15.22
Leg 4 - Jason Simpson 14.35
Leg 5 - Jim Burdett 15.42
Leg 6 - Stuart Major 14.55
The Mens V40 team took the first prize in style with the ‘Bantam’ on last
leg fresh from cycling over from Banstead Woods - it did him good as he
was the fastest V40 of the day!
Leg 1 - Paul Mitchell 17.19
Leg 2 - Andy Evans 17.01
Leg 3 - Mike Airey 15.57
Leg 4 - Chris Phelan 15.53
Not to be outdone the V50’s also won their age group. After 2 legs they
were leading the V40’s but class told in the end!!
Leg 1 - Glenn Quarton 16.20
Leg 2 - Ian Kitching 17.06
Leg 3 - John Quaintance 17.05
Leg 4 - Barry Attwell 16.41
The Senior Mens ‘B’ team completed the race thanks to Antonio Martins and
then Paul Mitchell doing a ‘warm down’ second run of the day.
Leg 1 - Alex Halpin 17.09
Leg 2 - Simon Rosser 17.41
leg 3 - David Baker 16.31
Leg 4 - Antonio Martins 19.12
Leg 5 - Aki Akiwumi 19.34
Leg 6 - Paul Mitchell 17.38
The Senior ‘C’ team only had two members,
Leg 1 - Colin Young 18.56
Leg 2 - Colin Moyer 18.57
Last but not least the V50’s fielded a ‘B’ team (i couldn’t find a last
leg runner in the results)
Leg 1 - Clive Edgington 17.39
Leg 2 - Bob Gevers 18.51
Leg 3 - Nigel Bush 18.40
Well done to all today - let’s try and repeat some of these results at the
Southerns three weeks today -29th September.
