South London Harrier Jason Simpson’s winning form continues. His latest victory was in last Thursday evening’s July running of the SLH Near-As-Dammit 10 km trail race held on Farthing Downs.

Simpson was in the leading group all of the way and finished in 36.46 followed closely by Chris Phelan (SLH) second in 36.54, Pavel Bal (SLH) third in 37.03, Matt Chapman (SLH) fourth in 37.50, Daniel Gillett (Collingwood AC) fifth in 38.25, David Baker (SLH) sixth in 38.25, David Ogden (SLH) seventh in 38.47 and Ian Kitching (SLH) eighth in 38.53. First woman finisher was Pippa Major (SLH) in a time of 41.36, second was Ruth Hutton (SLH) in 42.39 and third was Beckie Woodland (SLH) in 43.52.

In all, there were 78 finishers in the race – a record turn out in its 15 year history.

Chris Phelan and Pippa Major each won a bottle of Champagne for running the best times across all three of the summer’s races.

On Sunday, SLH was represented at the UK Track and Field Championships and World Trials held in Manchester by the Club’s sprint champion Natalie Bartley. 19 year old Natalie finished fifth in her heat of the 200 metres but unfortunately did not qualify for the final.
