Another superb performance by SLH’s Jason Simpson gave him sixth spot in a field of 20,000 runners in the London 10k held last week. The race was won by Olympic Champion Stefano Baldini in 29.27; Jason’s time was 31.39. An in-form Jason, a newly turned vet 40 runner, has recently won the Surrey Half-Marathon and Ten Mile championships. More news below:
Midweek, SLH entered both a men’s and a women’s team in the Nonsuch Park Relays over two miles and both teams finished in second place, the women’s team were also the first vet. 40 team. Times as follows: Paul Mitchell, 10.38, Andy Collins, 10.12, Tim Chidgey, 9.44, Stuart Major, 9.30. Pippa Major, 11.18, Christine Costiff 11.52, Trudy Kuhn, 13.18 and Ruth Hutton 11.21.

The popular new Banstead Woods 5km Time Trial held every Saturday morning, this week saw Andy Collins (vet.40) compete for the first time to win in 17.56, with Jo Quantrill (vet. 50) achieving a personal best of 21.49 to win the women’s race.

Next Saturday, 14th July, SLH will be organising the annual Elmore 7 mile road race held in conjunction with the Chipstead Flower Show with all proceeds going to the Banstead Brain Injury Centre.
