April 9th, 2007: THE WEST WIGHT THREE HILLS RACE

Posted by Chris Phelan at 9:31 pm

SLH competed in an undulating/hilly very scenic course on the Ilse of Wight over Easter. The results of those completing the single lap of 8 miles with approximately 900 feet of ascent are below:
1:01:05 Graham Bradbury 36th position and 1st V60;
1:04:40 Jo Quantrill 49th overall 6th Woman and 2nd V45;
1:09:35 Sue Ashley 67th overall 10th Woman and 4th V45 (Note: Sue is carrying an injury)

Well done all.  This event sounds like one for the diaries next year, Jo’s take on it was “A great race and quite restored my faith!  Less road would have been nice and pretty hot, but the breeze from the sea, wonderful springy turf and the sea all around made up for it.  Two biggish hills and one vertical slope (upwards) at the Alum Bay chair lift”.
