March 25th, 2007: Cranleigh 15
Posted by Chris Phelan at 4:08 pmRead David Ogden’s report on the Cranleigh 15 below. Modesty prevails in the report as David picked up the silver medal in the event. Well done.
There is more to Cranleigh than the 21 and a bit run. They also have a 15 and a quarter mile run. Unless you ask the people round you, you can’t tell who is in which race until the very end.
I was the only SLH runner to “drop out” after 15 and a quarter miles. I ran steady six minute miles (give or take a couple of seconds depending on the slope) which meant that the only person near me managed to out sprint me in the last quarter of a mile and beat me by 4 seconds.
We thought we were 2nd and 3rd until we were told that no-one had finished before us. A runner in blue was in sight until very near the end. Andy Weir (THH) and AN Other were miles ahead but running the 21.
I finished in 1.31.36. Chris Finnill of Harrow won it in 1.31.32. We were 4 minutes ahead of 3rd. 187 finished.
